FIDO Tech appoints Jack Canfield as new US country director
FIDO Tech has appointed Jack Canfield as its US Country Director to help expand the use of its advanced AI water loss solutions across the States.
Jack will help cement the position of FIDO AI as a leading technology for utilities and municipalities who are struggling to respond to the twin issues of frequent water scarcity and increasing regulatory oversight.
FIDO AI is a pioneering technology which instantly and accurately detects leaks and other non-revenue water (NRW) events in pipeline networks, as well as providing valuable insight into their size and exact location.
Drawing on more than 20 years’ experience of operating, managing and successfully digitizing water network processes, Jack’s role will be to help system owners and operators seize the advantages of AI when it comes to rapidly improving water resilience.
“I’ve been working with AI for eight years and I see it as a fantastic really useful tool, especially when it comes to helping fulfil resources that municipalities don’t have and can’t attain. It does repetitive work extremely well which frees up human resource for tasks that require more critical thinking so that things get done faster. This is vital, especially in areas like the southwest United States which are really struggling to fulfil their obligations,” he said.
Jack’s career history takes in senior water network positions at South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) and the City of Houston. Most recently, he was at Grundfos where he was responsible for global applications and business development.
Welcoming Jack to FIDO’s growing global team, FIDO’s Chief Revenue Officer Phillip Tomlinson, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Jack. He has the network knowledge and experience that our customers respect and is an enthusiastic advocate of AI, thanks to his personal experience of deploying digital technologies successfully. He can speak the language of successful adoption.”
Outside work, Jack lives near Houston with his family where, when he’s not exercising his energetic dog, a Queensland Healer, he enjoys re-building and modifying classic American cars and motorbikes. His current project is breathing new life into a 1950 Ford Mercury.
He added: “Having spent my entire career in water networks and more recently non-revenue water, I am passionate about it. I’ve seen the US fully pivot now towards looking at water as a strategic asset. There’s a real mega trend to keep water in the pipes. It is long overdue.
“I want to make sure drinking water is more sustainable for my children and my children’s children. One way is to be pivotal in making this change and putting the name FIDO AI in the mouths of all utility leaders in the US when it comes to NRW.”
