The Challenge:

FIDO has partnered with Truss Development Asia (Truss). Truss works on a variety of projects across Asia and is striving to make a difference by introducing the latest technologies and resources.

One company Truss is supporting, is the Metropolitan Water Authority (MWA) in Bangkok. Truss is working closely with MWA and is providing a dedicated team to support the contracts MWA has been awarded.

MWA network is made up of low-pressure, PVC pipes and the surrounding area is also very busy and noisy, resulting in failure from traditional acoustic leak detection equipment.

The FIDO AI Solution:

MWA showed the deployed FIDO team a stretch of pipe that they knew was leaking. However multiple sources had informed them it would be impossible to locate and fix the leak. The leak was on a 300mm PVC pipe with less than 1 bar of pressure.

FIDO engineers used two FIDO AI-enabled sensors on two pipe access points 100m apart, to take exactly synchronised acoustic samples.

The exact leak location was calculated, and FIDO AI got it precisely right.

Truss is continuing to support the relationship between FIDO and MWA. Three engineers from Truss, travelled to the UK for a two-week intense 1-1 training with the experts who designed, built and use FIDO. They are now fully qualified FIDO specialists trained in using the ‘FIDO Way’ and are beginning the FIDO Direct service rollout across MWA and further contracts in other surrounding areas.

“FIDO has proven itself as a flexible, reliable and quick leak detection tool in MWA’s quest to reduce its Non-Revenue Water loss on the Distribution pipelines. Truss, as FIDO’s trusted partner in Thailand, has a dedicated team to supporting MWA on its journey and currently working closely with them through the contracts awarded this year. Truss and MWA are planning to expand FIDO coverage to Trunk Mains in the near future as MWA steps up their game in reducing the water loss.”
