Experienced AI and digital transformation leader Jamie Stapleton joins FIDO Tech from Hitachi Energy
Jamie Stapleton has joined FIDO Tech as Chief Technical Officer to lead the company through its next phase of AI innovation for the water sector.
The strategic appointment continues FIDO's mission to help utilities reduce leakage, improve operational decision-making and protect scarce water resources through advanced acoustic analytics.
Prior to joining FIDO, Jamie was at Hitachi Energy where he built its global AI-enabled services business HMAX Energy, delivering AI-powered solutions for utilities and critical infrastructure operators.
Over a career spanning more than 20 years in industrial IoT, AI and digital transformation, Jamie held senior positions with Hitachi, ABB, Schneider Electric and Invensys, and worked closely with technology leaders including Microsoft, Google, AWS and NVIDIA.
As FIDO CTO, he will lead the continued development of FIDO's technology platform. This will include helping to scale FIDO Tech's AI capabilities, strengthen strategic partnerships and maintain the highest standards of governance, security and customer trust.
FIDO CEO Mitch Donnelly said the appointment was an important step in the company's continued growth, and reflected FIDO's commitment to combining advanced AI with environmental impact.
"We're delighted to welcome Jamie to FIDO. He brings deep expertise in AI, digital services and critical infrastructure, alongside a proven track record of building and scaling technology businesses.
As utilities face increasing pressure to reduce water loss and improve network performance, Jamie's experience will help strengthen our ability to deliver trusted AI solutions that create real operational and environmental impact.
Just as importantly, he shares our belief that technology should be a force for good. His leadership will help us continue advancing our mission of helping utilities protect one of the world's most precious resources."
FIDO Tech is a mission-led technology company using AI analysis of water network data to help utilities reduce leakage, improve network visibility and respond to the growing challenges of water scarcity and climate change.
This combination of technology and purpose in a fast-moving environment scale-up environment was a core part of Jamie's decision to join the FIDO team.
"I've spent my career working in large organisations finding ways to use cutting-edge technologies to help clients solve complex operational challenges. FIDO has built a unique and highly valuable artificial intelligence but is still small and agile enough to continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. This freedom to move fast is one of the things that really attracted me to the role, and I am looking forward to helping them explore even more innovative technical approaches."
A former semi-professional footballer for Worthing United, Jamie hails from Lancing in Sussex and in his spare time enjoys keeping fit as well as travelling and spending time with his wife and three sons.
